We’re proud to share that Seyfu Jamaal was recently selected to attend the ASICS Chojo Camp Europe in Font-Romeu, France, hosted by World Athletics and ASICS in March 2025. Set in the high-altitude Pyrenees, this elite training experience brought together five refugee athletes as they prepare for possible selection to the Athlete Refugee Team (ART) for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September.

Seyfu joined fellow athletes Farida Aborage, Seyd Taha Ghafari, Omar Hassan and Emmanuel Kiruhura Ntagunga, all of whom have overcome immense challenges to continue pursuing their dreams in athletics. The camp not only provided world-class training conditions and access to the French national facilities, but also created a shared space for these athletes to bond, reset and recommit to their goals.

The camp represents more than an opportunity for selection, it’s recognition of Seyfu’s talent and a platform to grow in a high-performance environment. Selection to the ART is based on performance standards and technical requirements, and if successful, Seyfu will be among those representing the team at the biggest global athletics stage later this year in Tokyo.

At Nxtstride, we’re incredibly proud of Seyfu and everything this moment represents. This is why we do what we do, to create the space, the belief and the backing for athletes who deserve to be seen and supported.
Whether it’s elite competition, training camps or building community from the ground up, our mission stays the same: empower the next generation of UK athletes to take the next stride.
