We’re proud to share that Seyfu Jamaal made his international debut after being selected to represent the World Athletics Refugee Team at the 2025 European Cross Country Championships in Lagoa, Portugal.

Earlier that week, Seyfu was officially welcomed to the Refugee Athlete Team by Baroness Katherine Grainger, Chair of the British Olympic Association, marking a significant moment ahead of his first international championships.

The championships marked Seyfu’s first appearance on the international stage, where he lined up against Europe’s best distance runners in the senior men’s race. He produced a controlled and committed performance to finish 57th overall, gaining valuable experience at championship level.
Selection for the World Athletics Refugee Team represents a major milestone in Seyfu’s journey and reflects his steady progression, resilience, and commitment to his craft. Competing at a major international championships is an important step forward as he continues to establish himself at elite level.
